Guinn Wedding

After taking engagement portraits for Nathan and Laura they asked me if I would be willing to photograph their wedding as well.  While I was a little nervous because it was my first wedding as a photographer, after spending the weekend with them and processing the photos I now look back upon this experience as one that was full of love, personal growth as a photographer, and some extraordinary moments. Enjoy!

Prenshaw Engagement

I love surprises.  So naturally I was excited when a friend at Duke Divinity, Eric Prenshaw, asked me if I’d be able to photograph he and his fiancee, Carley, at Four Square Restaurant in Durham, NC soon after he proposed.  The shoot was a surprise to Carley, but you can see by the pictures that she handled it beautifully.

Hamilton Engagement

A few weeks back I was fortunate enough to take some engagement shots of Emily and Kyle, both fellow first years here at Duke Divinity.  I met Emily the first day of orientation when she approached and asked if I had attended Furman.  In the midst of so much unknown, I replied enthusiastically and immediately we discovered that while we didn’t know each other in undergrad we had many mutual friends and plenty in common.  I got to know Kyle during a small class we had together fall semester, and I have greatly enjoyed spending time with them as individuals and as a couple.

It was a joy taking these photos, despite the hundreds of people meandering through Duke Gardens on the first warm day of spring!  This was my first engagement shoot since I’ve moved to the Durham / RDU area and I look forward to more in the near future.  Please feel free to email me if you’re interested in my services.

Max Patch, NC

During my outdoor photography class this fall my instructor, Richard Bernabe, told us about a beautiful bald in North Carolina close to the Tennessee border.  The first time I visited the fog was so thick that I could only see two feet in front of me.  I left feeling disappointed and without having any vision of the spectacular views.

I returned a month later at sunset and it was well worth the trip.  After processing my photos from the trip, I feel almost as satisfied as the lady below drinking the illuminated red wine.

Rockmont

The photos below are from Camp Rockmont for Boys where I have worked two of my college summers. It was such a blessing to be able to lead and mentor young men in a Christian environment. If you haven’t, please consider sending your child to camp as they grow up. It is a great opportunity for them to grow physically, socially, mentally, and spiritually.

The leaves have fallen, but luckily I had the opportunity to visit Asheville and Hendersonville the first weekend of November. Click on each photo to go to my Flickr page.

The Fourth

Signs

This summer I will be working at Camp Rockmont as I did after my freshman year. I will be involved with photography at camp in some capacity although I am not sure quite what it will look like as of now.

Here are a couple pictures from a recent trip of mine to the Asheville, NC / Black Mountain, NC area.
