I recently began listening to podcasts again and I already know that one of my new favorites is going to be The Productive Pastor produced by Chad Brooks.
Chad is a fellow pastor in the United Methodist Church who I’ve interacted with over the last number of years through twitter. His thoughts on worship, culture, and productivity always challenge me and push me to think deeper about my calling as a pastor.
Chad’s latest venture, The Productive Pastor, “is an honest and helpful look at the struggle and joy of time management and productivity for ministry leaders. With a focus on practical tools, methods and tips The Productive Pastor focuses on living out the called life in a hectic world.”
Upon the release of its first episode, the podcast has already climbed the iTunes charts and been highlighted as “New & Noteworthy” in the iTunes section on Christianity!
Chad invited me to chat with him for the podcast’s second episode and I had a blast talking with him about the intersection of productivity and the life of a pastor. In the episode, I share with Chad one of my biggest challenges moving from seminary to full-time work in a church, some tips & tricks that I’ve learned throughout my last 18 months, and more.
If you’re in ministry, or just want some insights into the world of a pastor, you won’t regret subscribing to this new podcast.

In the interview, I mention the sermon worksheet that I fill out for the majority of the sermons I preach. This sheet helps me look at scripture in a deep way and primes the pump for the crafting of my sermons. I hope this resource will be helpful for you and that you’ll share it and the podcasts with your friends:
